AGAP elected as member of CHAT’s Executive Committee

On January 20, 2009 twenty five (25) various organizations from the Philippines agreed to form a broad advocacy coalition that will support to realize the goals of the Medicines Transparency Alliance (MeTA) – an alliance composed of government, international organization, pharmaceutical industry players and health professional organizations. The Coalition was named Coalition for Health Advocacy and Transparency (CHAT) and is composed of Non-Government Organizations, Peoples Organizations and other development actors concerned with issues on access to medicines, public health and good governance. Ayos na Gamot sa Abot-Kayang Presyo (AGAP) was one of the founding members of CHAT.

After several assemblies, CHAT’s Covenant was finally approved on March 27, 2009 and on the same occasion, AGAP was voted as the CSO representative to the META Council Philippines together with the two (2) already sitting CSOs to the council – HealthWatch and Procurement Watch. The three (3) organizations will be acting as the Executive Committee of CHAT together with two (2) more of its member-organizations. On the same occassion, AGAP was designated as the Chair for the committee on policy advocacy.
